Self-Care & Self-Love

by Rebecca Johns

Prioritizing yourself in a world that prioritizes busyness takes commitment, practice, and support. As a certified professional coach, I find that self-care is often perceived of as self-ISH. Social conditioning often gets in the way of considering a brief exploration into taking care of ourselves.

Beliefs such as…

I have to take care of everybody and everything else and then I’ll take care of myself.

I feel guilty when I take time for myself.

The most powerful belief is: It is better to give than receive.

What if:

Receiving is an act of generosity?

Asking for help is an act of generosity?

Allowing others to support you is an act of generosity?

Knowing our own inner voice, instincts, and intuition is a key to learning how to prioritize ourselves.

When I lead workshops, webinars, and classes on how intuition is a leadership skill, I always ask, “What brought you here?” Almost without exception, women say,

“My intuition has been telling me to take care of myself for years and I ignore it.”

What if you listened to your wise inner knowing and said yes to your form of self-care for the sake of those around you?

I’d love to hear from you.
