Dana Falsetti Yoga Retreat

Dana_Falsetti_Yoga_retreat-104.jpg

Join me for 5 days in Montana, just outside of Glacier National Park, at the beautiful Dancing Spirit Ranch.

I have to be honest, I'm not usually into places like this. They can feel inauthentic and gimmicky and that's not my vibe.  But this place is so special. Not only is Montana pure magic, with a specific energy I just can't explain, the property we're staying on matches it. It's been in the owner's family for many years, but the accommodations are newly restored and we are among the first to visit. This is an expensive retreat and not accessible to all and I recognize that, but am hopeful what this place and I can offer to those who are able to come will be rewarding in impactful ways.

This retreat is for those who are prepared to wander, soak up Montana on heir own accords, explore, and indulge in yoga practice all the same. This is not the retreat for you if you're looking for a lot of schedule or structure.

What to expect:

  • Beautiful brand new accommodations with daily housekeeping services set just outside Glacier National Park. Shared baths maintained daily.
  • Access to brand new Washer/Dryer in unit.
  • Twice daily (mostly vegan) meals prepared by Evan Asoudegan - my friend and often the highlight of the trip because he is a total goof and pleasure to be around.
  • Freedom to explore the property (there are gardens, meditation areas, swimming ponds, etc.), to explore the national park, head into town for a day, whatever you like. I recommend renting a car for this trip.
  • 1-2 yoga classes a day.
  • Open access to yoga room with full range of props.
  • Montana all around you.
  • Privacy, and a close-knit crew. 10 students plus me :)

Haven Writing Retreat

“While the wilderness of Montana holds the space for inspiration…I hold the space for my retreaters to step into the wilderness of their writing– in the nurturing, safe setting of the gorgeous Dancing Spirit Ranch. No matter where you are in your writing journey, I want you to return home feeling inspired, with clearer intention, deeper commitment, a renewed permission to play on the page, and create what you want to create.”– Laura Munson

Find your voice.

In journals, letters, essays, novels, memoirs...I have examined this beautiful and heartbreaking thing called life, always with the intention of shining a light on an otherwise dim corner to provide relief for myself and others.   Writing is my practice, my prayer, my meditation, my way of life and sometimes…my way to life.  I want to help you find your unique voice that no one else on the planet has except for you!

Find your stories.

You know what they are.  You lead with them when you meet people, when you’re talking on a plane, when you gather with old friends.  These are the white hot topics that you are hungry for.  At Haven, we free-fall into them bravely and come out the other side with new perspective, new understanding, and even new stories.

Find where you are stuck.

People tell me all the time:  “I’m just not creative.  I don’t have the time.  I’m afraid to be that vulnerable.  I’m not good enough, anyway,” which means that their inner critic holds court in their minds and they have learned to bow to it, supplicant.  It doesn’t have to be like this.  Everybody is creative.  Every second we live is a moment of creation.  What we say, what clothes we wear, how we think—all creative acts.  At Haven, you allow yourself to fully engage in the creative journey you are already on, whether or not you are aware of it.  You will walk away with a new commitment to using writing in your life whether it’s in a book project, short form writing, or a more fulfilling journal writing practice.

Whether or not you are a writer, Haven meets you where you need to be met.

I designed the retreat that I would want to attend.  That means that everybody at Haven values the written word.  Some are working on a project, some haven’t written since school days.  It doesn’t matter.  Haven is meant to meet you where you need to be met.  The one thing we all have in common at Haven is that we are seekers on some level.  That’s what makes it so powerful.  We step outside of good/bad/right/wrong and into the world of possibility and the world of Yes!  I fiercely believe that creative self-expression on the page should be up there with diet and exercise as a transformational tool in the realm of preventative wellness…whether or not it adds up to a published work.

Take a powerful stand for yourself.

When we give ourselves permission, we can find profound freedom in our creativity.  That’s why I lead Haven Writing Retreats.  I want to help people in their creative expression no matter where they are in their writing.  I believe it heals.  I believe it can change lives and even change the world.  While the wilderness of Montana holds the space for our inspiration, I hold the space for my retreaters to step into the wilderness of their writing-- in a nurturing, safe, inspiring setting…and explore.  Each time, I see people leave re-fueled, with clearer intention, and an empowered passion to create what they want to create whether it’s a love-letter to future generations, a novel, a memoir, or a way to simply heal their lives.

If you don’t do it for yourself, who will?

It is such an honor to help people bloom, get unstuck, move through blocks, have breakthroughs, and mostly to see what happens when a group of people take a stand for their self-expression in the woods of Montana. The experience is profound.  Our creativity can be our greatest free zone.  And I want to help make this possible for you.

Glacier Getaway: A Yoga Adventure (re)Treat in Montana

DancingSpirits-016.jpg

October 3rd-7th, 2018

Price starting at: $1500 pp

Only 22 spots available!

Namaste in the Northwest! This fall, join Natalie Magee of Yogi Magee Expeditions and Margaret Randolph for a 4-night, 5 day retreat at the gorgeous Dancing Spirit Ranch in Northwest Montana. Located 6 miles southwest of Whitefish, the Dancing Spirit Ranch is just a short drive from Glacier National Park, Whitefish Mountain Resort, and many pristine lakes. Dancing Spirit Ranch was built for comfortable relaxation and enjoyment. You will be living in one of three buildings, each designed to offer a genuine Montana experience. There are five ponds to explore and kayaks and canoes for floating on the largest, 14-acre pond. There is a forest to wander through with five miles of gentle terrain perfect for a meditative walk. Hidden on the property is a walled garden filled with flowers, willow-covered walls and teak benches placed throughout to invite stillness and discovery to the visitor.

Beyond the property, just 22 miles away is the stunning Glacier National Park. The park encompasses over 1 million acres and includes parts of two mountain ranges, over 130 named lakes, more than 1,000 different species of plants, and hundreds of species of animals. We will have arranged transportation to spend a day or two exploring the park where we'll choose an appropriate all-levels hike and enjoy a packed picnic lunch along the way. If you choose to fly in to Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) it's only five miles away and an airport pickup can be arrange. You also have the option of renting a car if you choose not to drive so that you have freedom to explore the area at your leisure. The town of Whitefish is only 6 miles away and is filled with shops and eateries for which to explore as well.

So come rest, relax, adventure and rejuvenate on this one-of-a-kind luxury rustic retreat. Once you arrive your only worry will be where to shop and what sights you want to capture with your camera. October is the perfect time of year because the park crowds have dwindled and hiking trails will be less crowded. Mountain weather is unpredictable in the fall so we could have an 80 degree day, perfect for a swim or kayak or we could have 40 degree weather which will make for an excellent bonfire and hot chocolate/wine sipping evening. We will be the only guests at the ranch and you may participate in as much or as little of the retreat as you like. This trip will be an opportunity to explore stunning Montana and see all the area has to offer!

Awaken: A Creative Expressive Immersion + Yoga + Soulcraft

Screen Shot 2018-07-05 at 1.29.25 PM.png

AWAKEN

To become aware of what is really true or real.

To spring into being, arise, originate.

To be aware, conscious, able to act.

[Related: Awakening.]

The philosophy behind this Creative Immersion retreat is:

1. We are only as powerful as we are awake.

2. Creative practice is an effective way to awaken the whole self.

3. We may not think we are creative, but we all get to be creative.

1495240908925.png

Here’s the starting point: is your soul awake? Seriously, what’s your gut answer? What would fully awake feel like to you? (Pause…. actually feel into that answer for a moment.)

If you answered "no" or felt a little unsure, you’re not alone, nor is there a darn thing wrong with you. It’s the human condition to ebb and flow from fogginess to clarity on your personal “what am I doing and why am I a badass?” spectrum. We can’t all be sparkly unicorns all the time. Not to mention, sometimes our system shuts down in response to external chaos… it’s like it wants to hit the snooze alarm until everything is under control. All normal, all justifiable.

I’m just going to lob this out there, and hopefully it lands deep: We need you. Awake. Not just functional after a cup of coffee or tea (which btw we’ve got you covered with the goods on retreat), but really awake and aligned to how you’re showing up for us (your community) and for you. Because you in all your glory? We love that shit.

One of the best ways to wake up is to take back the keys: do something that brings you back to the present moment. Like yoga. Journaling. Painting. Essentially, being curious. When we become aware in the moment, we can look around us and consciously decide what to do with the resources available to us. We can make art: both literally, and perhaps more importantly, figuratively… after all, problem solving, empathy, conversation, leadership, our side hustles… it’s ALL art.

Whether you’re in a big transition, or feeling stagnated or numb and just want to shake things up, or you just love the opportunity to do something different, this immersion is about giving ourselves permission to be creative. Because creativity IS a way to awaken oneself. Sure, on this retreat we are not going to create art to save the world, but we’re creating the best you to save the world.

The Art of Presence: A Retreat with Peter Kater

DancingSpirits-116.jpg

Being present with your Self and in your life is the single most healing, inspiring, and transformative practice you will ever learn...

Join me . . . in the presence of Trees.

Where the Earth beckons a

deeper listen

As it draws you down into it’s peace.

Join me . . . on the edge

of the known and unfamiliar.

In the company of intimate strangers.

Join me . . . for an eternal moment

Within the eye of spiraling time.

As we reclaim what we’ve lost.

Join me . . . in loving emancipation

In blinding night and blinding light.

To awaken once more and again.

-Peter Kater

"If you want to be utterly transported, you want the magic and the music of Peter Kater.  Once you hear what his mind, his heart, his soul and his fingers do with a keyboard, nothing less and nothing else will do." --  Neale Donald Walsch, Author "Conversations With God"

Join me, Peter Kater, for a full week (7 full days and nights) just outside of Whitefish, Montana, cultivating deep presence, healing, intimacy and joy in one of the most beautiful and serene places on Earth.  Through listening to live music, to the sounds and silence of nature, crystal singing bowls, to our Selves and each other, we will cultivate a deep awareness and experience the magical presence and continual movement of Life in all of its transformations.  Being present with ourselves, the Earth and each other is the single most healing, inspiring and transformative practice we will ever learn . . . and the most creative.

We will spend a week together at Dancing Spirit Ranch, a peaceful yet dynamic place of conscious co-creation between man and nature, where the earth, the elements and the natural cycles of life are given center stage in the incredible beauty of the Rocky Mountains of Northwest Montana.  It sits on 160-acres full of forests, ponds, and over 5 miles of walking trails leading you to a variety of sacred stone sites. From labyrinth walks to gong baths, the hidden treasures of Dancing Spirit Ranch will make this retreat unlike any other. The ranch has a variety of buildings that create a unique Western Village, perfect to house our nature getaway.  From yoga and music in the School House, to nourishing meals in the Barn, every corner of the ranch has something memorable to offer.

We will enjoy delicious, healthy meals made with local farm-to-table organic ingredients.  We will listen to music performed by myself and other guest musicians daily, sometimes in performance style situations and sometimes informally next to the roasting fire. During each nightly fire circle, we will share and entertain thoughtful, engaging and expanding conversation, and sometimes just contemplate and revel in the silent roar of quiet presence.  Lie under my piano while I play for you and even sign-up for a personal private musical “reading,” which I will record for you.  We will tone together using 12 crystal singing bowls.  We will explore the wonder and miracle of Nature on beautiful Dancing Spirit Ranch, at local lakes, at Glacier National Park and even take a leisurely four hour river float on tubes, kayaks, canoes or paddle boards from town back to the ranch.

We will learn and practice various exercises to stimulate deep presence and listening.   And we will have every afternoon free to do as we wish.  Enjoy and explore the beauty and magic of nature; or nap in the sun by the lake; or kayak, paddle board; journal or visit with friends.   All formal group activities will happen between sunrise and lunch and then again from dinner into the evening hours.  There will be one or two free evenings as well to explore Whitefish or do whatever your heart calls you to do.  Also, if you’re a musician and would like to play with me, bring your instrument.  I’m sure we can find some time during the week to be present in our music together.

"My soul was dancing with delight as Peter created a musical masterpiece right in the moment.  It was awe inspiring to witness the birth of a song that was in tune with my energy. It felt as if the melody captured the very essence of my being." -- Tanya Gabriel

Jolie & Rob

co-founders of Yogakoh

Growing up in Boulder, Colorado, Jolie’s first yoga influences came from her father, a spiritual man, who challenged her mind from a young age with yogic-based philosophies and meditation. She spent her youth studying dance and practicing yoga, which culminated in receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and movement from University of Colorado. Soon after she found herself in New York City, where she was able to share her passion for dance and yoga with a broader audience. After years in the city, she ventured to Bali where she received her initial yoga certification. Though she has called Bali home for many years, Jolie can be found all over the world running teacher trainings, retreats, and continuing education programs. Meanwhile, Rob grew up in Sydney, Australia. His earliest memories are of the ocean when his father tossed him into the waves as a young boy, and he’s been hooked ever since. Surfing is second nature to him, and there is hardly a time that has passed without a surfboard hooked under his arm. Rob and Jolie met in Bali and created Surfin2Yoga, facilitating surf and yoga retreats in Bali & The Maldives. Through their combined passions of yoga, movement, travel, surf and connection, they have founded Yogakoh, a yoga school and lifestyle brand that specializes in retreats, trainings, and workshops around the globe. Jolie and Rob are excited to help people connect to their inner truths by providing a community of like-minded people.

Robin & Tyler

Co-Owners of Dancing Spirit Ranch

These high school sweethearts grew up in Whitefish, Montana and were lucky enough to have these mountains as their playground. After high school, Robin moved to Manhattan to attend New York University’s Gallatin program of Individualized Study, creating her own major of “The Good Life”. Meanwhile, Tyler moved to Pittsburgh with a Division-I soccer scholarship to Robert Morris University and graduated with a double major in Hospitality and Business Management. After college, they developed a strong passion for travel and have since visited over 35 countries together. During their most recent backpacking stint, they completed a Yoga Alliance accredited 200-hour vinyasa flow teacher training in Bali with Jolie Manza. One of the their biggest lessons during all of their travels is that home is in the mountains. After a handful of years in San Francisco, Robin and Tyler decided to move back and combine all of their passions into one, Dancing Spirit Ranch. They are beyond thrilled to share their love for people, hospitality, and the Flathead Valley with everyone that comes to the ranch. And if you can’t find them there, you can usually find them hiking, skiing, or practicing yoga.

Glacier Quest – On the Trail with Your Wild Soul

A Women’s Retreat in Glacier National Park and at Dancing Spirit Ranch, Montana

5 Days and 4 Nights, July 9 – 13, 2018

Somewhere in the wilds of Glacier National Park, a small group of hikers steps quietly off trail, their senses attuned. In stillness, they notice the nature all around them. They listen for wildlife and wild wisdom, and attune to whatever details call their attention, both within and around them.

They seek to know themselves and their purpose in a new way, to access their inner wisdom and guidance. Nature herself reflects to them breadcrumbs along their trail to peace, purpose, and deep connection. She helps release old patterns that no longer serve and restore a sense of healing, aliveness, and clarity that these hikers will take back home into their daily lives.

This is your call: join them.

Retreat Highlights

  • Personalized coaching with Master Certified Coach, Jennifer Shryock, using my full coaching toolkit, including Mind-Body, Martha Beck training, and nature guide, all within a supportive group setting
  • World-class naturalist and guide, Melissa Scott, to share perspective on natural and cultural history, wildlife safety and awareness, and 25-years experience in GNP
  • First two nights’ stay at the amazing Dancing Spirit Ranch: 160 acres of wide open spaces, a gorgeous gathering barn and “bunkhouse,” a private chef to provide our meals, and so much more.
  • Three days of hiking, presencing, and stillness in Glacier National Park, the Crown of the Continent and headwaters for streams that flow to the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and to Hudson’s Bay
  • In Glacier Park, we’ll stay at the historic and recently restored Many Glacier Lodge.
  • Scenic drive on the world famous Going to the Sun Road with Melissa and Jennifer
  • An intimate group of no more than eight, plus guides

The Art of Presence: A Retreat with Peter Kater

DancingSpirits-116.jpg

Being present with your Self and in your life is the single most healing, inspiring, and transformative practice you will ever learn...

Join me . . . in the presence of Trees.

Where the Earth beckons a

deeper listen

As it draws you down into it’s peace.

Join me . . . on the edge

of the known and unfamiliar.

In the company of intimate strangers.

Join me . . . for an eternal moment

Within the eye of spiraling time.

As we reclaim what we’ve lost.

Join me . . . in loving emancipation

In blinding night and blinding light.

To awaken once more and again.

Yoga Teacher Training with YogaKoh

Transform your life. Become a certified yoga teacher with YogaKoh. This one month, residential training offers a certification at the 200hr level that enables you to register as an internationally recognized yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance.

JolieManza-316.jpg

This course is designed for interested practitioners who are ready to teach, but also reaches out to those who are simply looking to enrich and grow their personal practice.

We aim to help you understand what your path is within yoga. What feels most honest, authentic and true to your individual nature. No two people will have the same journey and our aim is to create an environment that helps you find your individual voice.

The training is focused on the Vinyasa format of sequencing, but draws much of its teachings from traditional Ashtanga, and Hatha lineages.

The Program:

The course runs 6 days a week;

Monday till Saturday 7am – 5pm with Sundays off.

The program finishes in celebration on Friday June 29th.

Check out is June 30th by 11:30am. No late check-outs.

Each day begins with an intense 2.5 hr practice blending asana, pranayama and meditation, and is followed by a series of comprehensive lectures that will cover all varying topics.

We accept a maximum of 20 students to the course to ensure personalized attention and to create the most effective learning environment. Spaces are limited.

YogaKoh’s Core Values:

SUPPORT:

At YogaKoh our teachers offer authentic mentorship. They are truly living their passion and sharing what they have embodied on their own journeys. We know from experience how it feels to be on the edge of a transformative shift in life, and are here to offer a place and team to support that change.

Koh-NNECTION:

Your spirit will be pulled to the place it belongs. Connecting with others on a deeper level is a true gift and something we deeply value.  So we call to all students, people who view yoga as a purely physical practice, people who view it as a spiritual practice and everyone in-between, as we consider learning from one another’s differences is an integral part of the process.

SERVICE:

Giving Back. We believe we all share a desire to be of service on this earth; a desire to find happiness, and a desire to learn to face hardship and discomfort with more ease. There is no better way to give back to other people and this planet than by sharing this life-changing practice.

NATURE:

At YogaKoh we also believe in the power of nature, and how returning to it can bring us in touch with the essence of who we are.

So much so, that we hand pick our training locations in order to allow this immersion to happen effortlessly. Be it close to the beaches of Bali or the mountains of Montana, we know that escaping the ordinary, and being surrounded by the beauty of the earth and its unique cultures will enhance this profound experience.

Koh-MMUNITY:

At our trainings you can expect to connect and learn from new people that will become friends for life; growing your community and tribe into a global reach, exploring new lands and cultures, and creating adventures and stories that will last a lifetime.

There is so much joy in this practice, and we want the fun aspect of this lifestyle to shine through during your time with us.

Evoke

Treat yourself to a special evening that is intentionally designed to EVOKE all 5 senses. This class offers a fusion of Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra, DoTerra essential oils, intentional hands-on assists, hypnotic beats, and delectable homemade treats. This class promises to nourish the soul, relax the body and mind, and leave you feeling blissed out.

EVOKE is a multi-sensory Yoga experience created by Suzy Aragon. EVOKE offers a fusion of different yoga practices in order to stimulate and awaken all five senses. This experience will allow you to release physical and mental tension, stress and allow you to fully relax and reconnect with your true self.

When I started practicing yoga I had no idea it would lead me to where I am right now. I started practicing Bikram Yoga when I was in nursing school and while going through a difficult divorce. Getting on my mat did something to my body and mind that I did not understand at the time nor could explain to anybody else. When I discovered Baptiste Yoga it spoke even louder to me and I knew I had found something everlasting. I started practicing Baptiste Yoga in September of 2011 and shortly after completed my 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training. My love and passion for this practice only grew and in 2013 I attended my first Baptist training and it literally rocked my world and everything I had known up to that point. I have continued my Yoga journey over the years by attending many trainings with the Baptiste institute and I am now a Certified Baptiste teacher currently in the FIT to lead program. I have gained a deeper understanding of myself and what I truly am capable of as a result of this practice and my greatest joy is sharing it with others.. When I am not teaching or practicing Yoga I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, paddle-boarding, camping and meditating. I recently relocated to Whitefish with my partner and 18 month old daughter and I look forward to getting to know the area and people of the community better.

Julia Carmen was born with a gift of a Curandera de Alma (Seer of the Soul). Her gift of being able to see a person's true soul self has guided clients to quiet themselves to hear their own true divine soul self.   I have known that I am a Curandera all of my life. I didn’t do much about it. However, I would sometimes see things that I didn’t want to see. Not bad things, just things attached to people about their lives. I used it as intuition. But really, I didn’t know what to do with it. Seeing dead people? Hearing voices? Seeing stuff attached to people? What am I supposed to do with this gift that everyone says I have? What sets me apart from all the other Curanderas’? I was tormented by this lack of direction. So I asked “my people,” that’s what I call them, I said: “What the “bleep” am I supposed to be doing?” A week later I had a dream/vision and I was afraid. I didn’tknow what it meant, but I knew something was going to change. And I was scared because I sensed the strong energies of “these people” in my room before I even entered this dream/vision. I asked my friend - what do I do with this? “Sit down with these people, ”she told me. “Let them channel through you.” I did this but kept their message to myself (since early 90's). Several years ago, my people told me to share my dream/vision with a group of women. I did so and every woman in the room started crying. It was then that I realized this information must go beyond that one group of women and out to all women, and through them, to all men.

Breathe Into Winter

Yoga Retreat

February 16th-21st, 2018

Let the serenity of winter surround you as you immerse yourself into all things snow! From downhill skiing on Whitefish Mountain Resort to snowshoeing near Glacier National Park to dogsledding in backcountry woods, this winter yoga retreat offers much more than just yoga!

Join YogaKoh & Dancing Spirit Ranch for a 5-night/6-day retreat in the Rocky Mountains of Northwest Montana.  Each day will start with an invigorating yoga practice led by internationally-known Jolie Manza. The morning sessions are designed to get your heart pumping, breath moving, and mind clear, as well as preparing the body for the activities of the day ahead! Enjoy fun, sweaty Vinyasa Flows where we will cover a range of different asanas (postures), discovering new levels of strength and flexibility, imprinting the importance of breath and exploring the how’s and why’s of more complex shapes.

After a delicious breakfast, we will set out for a daily excursion, guaranteed to get you your winter fill! We will explore the depths of the Flathead Valley as we cross-country ski, snowshoe, and much more. No experience is necessary; we will make sure you are prepped and ready to go for each activity. To unwind from the day’s pursuit, each evening will have a restorative, relaxing flow where we will allow the body to recover, reconnect with the breath, slow the nervous system, and recharge. Complete with gong baths, singing bowls, and meditation, the evening practice will leave you in a blissful state, taking you straight into a peaceful evening. Each night will end cozied-up next to the fire with a delicious cocktail, tasty dinner, and the occasional live music.

From labyrinth walks to gong baths, the hidden treasures of Dancing Spirit Ranch will make this retreat unlike any other. The ranch has a variety of buildings that create a unique Western Village, perfect to house your snowy escape. From morning classes in the School House, to nourishing meals in the Barn, every corner of the ranch has something memorable to offer. There are a variety of room types to nestle up in, all adorned with antique furniture and Pendleton blankets to create the perfect rustic touch for your Montana experience. During your free time, you can find yourself snowshoeing to sacred stone sites, playing board games by the fire, or getting a massage in the treatment room.

In one of the country’s most breathtaking environments, Breathe into Winter focuses on combining both yoga and adventure, enabling you to truly detach from the stresses of your everyday life. Let our amazing group of yoga instructors and hosts inspire and energize you to find a new perspective both on and off the mat.

Co-Founders of Dancing Spirit Ranch

And if they can’t find them there, you can usually find them hiking, skiing, or practicing yoga.

Party of 1: A Hip-Hop Inspired Self Celebration

A Little Bit of Self Love Just in Time for Valentine's Day!

Join visiting yogi, Charlie Covey, at the ranch on Tuesday February 13th, 2018

6:00-7:15pm

IMG_5121.JPG

'If you don't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?' -Rupaul.

Before we spread the love on Valentine’s Day, let’s take a few minutes to look out for number one - you. We’ll be flowing to hip hop beats (and some epic pop jams too) celebrating the power of the self and opening up the heart chakra so that we can leave our mats feeling confident, grounded, and in love with every part of our bodies and beings.

Charlie lives and works in New York City as an actor and yoga teacher. He completed his yoga teacher training at Y7, a New York based studio for people "who put on gangster rap and handle it." He started this wild ride as a local here in Whitefish, Montana. He then spent time in Atlanta, Los Angeles and the British Virgin Islands before landing in NYC in 2010. When not pretending to be other people or spreading the namaste vibes, he can be found pursuing snacks, making friends with random dogs, or planning his next big adventure.

About Jennifer

With a background in movement and athletics, I have always gravitated toward deeply therapeutic and treatment focused bodywork. I work with compassion (and usually a sense of humor), using compression, line & point work, traction, range of motion, stretching, cupping, scraping, and lovely Thai herbal compresses & balms to alleviate pain and tissue damage while restoring function for my clients, including all levels of athletes, expectant & post partum moms, cancer & chemo patients, stress management, and addressing a multitude of other injuries and concerns over the years.

A passion for broader practice and healing led me to reach further with my studies traveling multiple times to Thailand and to the Naga Center in Portland, OR, to study with master teachers, through which I have accumulated well over 1000 hours of study in Traditional Thai Massage. The integration of this healing art has been transformative in both my life and the lives of my clients. I employ all of my experience and skills to create deliberate and specific treatment plans for each of my clients. I enjoy sharing my love of Thai Bodywork through teaching experiential workshops and classes as well.

A Day with Mike Matsumura

p166.png

Upside Down, You're Turning Me!
9-11am

Many yogis will say their biggest challenge in their physical practice is approaching inversions. If you are like many other practitioners, your inversions could use some work. Mike will share the basic mechanics of inversion postures. He will focus on safely helping you achieve these major inversions (headstand, forearm stand, handstand, shoulder stand). The use of props (if needed) will also be incorporated.
What you can expect in this workshop:

  • We will discuss why inversions are an important part of the asana practice and why they are so beneficial.
  • This workshop will consist of Pranayama (breathing exercises), Asana (postures), and Dhyana (meditation) along with getting familiar with Ashtanga Yoga (8 Limbs of Yoga).
  • We will move through a shortened Dharma Yoga sequence to ignite the tapas (internal heat), thus getting the body and mind prepared for inversions.
  • We will find out what works and what does not work for you, because everyone’s body is structured differently.
  • Beginners: We will dissect the ways to get you inverted without scaring the mind or the body.
  • Intermediate Practitioners: We will find ways to get you away from the wall.
    Appropriate for: All levels
  • Duration: 2hrs

Ain't No Mountain High Enough
3-5pm

In life, it can be a great adventure to take a leap of faith and try something new. It is ok to play it safe, but sometimes in life, we can achieve greater accomplishments by trusting ourselves and taking risks. Imagine if you never took risks in your life....first off, you wouldn't be here on your yoga mat! In this workshop, we will work on taking your practice to your highest level. It takes courage, practice, patience, dedication, compassion, a step away from fear, and just plain ol' enjoying the journey to Self- realization. It is through taking risks and believing in yourself, that you will be able to see what great things you are capable of achieving. So let's unroll our mats and take that leap of faith to discovering our highest potential and to reaching the higher Self!
What you can expect in this workshop:

  • We will move through a fun, vigorous and challenging asana sequence.
  • Various Pranayama techniques will be explored.
  • We'll also explore variations of postures, while still keeping it light-hearted.
  • Your practice will be taken to a new level in a safe way.
  • You will get twisted, bent, balanced and inverted....all without fear!
  • To add to the light-hearted theme, traditional yoga chants and not-so yogic, but really fun music will be
    incorporated.
  • Ending in meditation is a must!
  • Appropriate for: Everyone
  • Duration: 2hrs

Join us as we celebrate International Peace Day with yoga and meditation.

Founded by Shiva Rea in 2007, The Global Mala Project is uniting yoga, service and collective action. The purpose of the project is to bring the global yoga community together from every continent, school, and approach to form a "mala around the earth" through collective practices based upon the sacred cycle of 108 (108 Surya Namaskar, Mantra, Kriya, Meditation).

Join Arlisa Houston, Mollie Busby, Robin Gardner, and Tyler Gardner as they lead you through a series of 108 Surya Namaskars, followed by a meditation and gong bath. This will be a donation based gathering, and all proceeds will go to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Missoula branch. Forty-six women, men and children from war-torn lands in Africa and Iraq found new homes in Missoula in the final five months of 2016 with the help of the IRC.

Solar Eclipse Yoga Flow

Solar Eclipse Yoga Flow

Come celebrate the solar eclipse with us! Join Jeff Masters as he leads us in a 90-minute solar flow of empowerment and self awareness.

In the Vedic culture, eclipses are seen as a time to move inward and preserve our vitality or to protect the Sun within.

During this afternoon class participants will incorporate postures, mantra and other practices to connect to and empower their Solar nature within. This will infuse participants with increased Prana or mobilized primordial energy.

This eclipse, the first to be seen directly over North America since 1918, is a special time to establish and / or reinforce our inner resolve or the direction of our lives - setting the tone and trajectory of our path from this point forward, similar to the Sun’s pathway as it moves from obscurity to full awareness.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Jeff Masters LMT, ERYT, MPCT, Msc. (Hon.), a visionary therapist and teacher, has been researching consciousness and the human energy field for over 30 years. He is a certified and registered Yoga instructor and Yoga Therapist with over 1,200 hours of education and clinical experience. He is a graduate of the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, has been certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has been awarded an honorary masters degree in Anatomy and Physiology from the Open International University for Complimentary Medicine. His focus over the last four years has been the exploration of yoga’s foundational texts and the integration of ancient principles with modern science and medicine.

Jeff is delighted to share this day in celebration of the solar eclipse with you!

This class will be donation based, with a suggested donation of $5-$20.

All are welcome. Email hello@dancingspiritranch.com for more information.
